I have a question regarding stock size and origin. What is the reference point for the start depth and finish depth? Say we put 0 as the start depth, is this with respect to the origin point? So in a face milling operation, when the origin is top of the stock edge, what would I put the depth to be milled as?

Yea the origin in FreeCad needs to be set to the top of the object and then you can avoid having to do that "negative number" trick that you're using. The toolpath you created thinks that your cutting tool is starting at the bed of the CNC, but you zeroed your CNC tool at the top of the stock. It's a little confusing at first but when you go to cut something everything becomes more clear. Good video though, and super helpful!

"Refine Shape" does not appear in the Part dropdown in the 0.20.2 version. Anyone know where it went? UPDATE: It's under the "Create a copy" dropdown within Part.

Thank you for a solution that i was struggling with. There are many other vids on RUclips showing how to convert Stl files, but yours gave the solution on the problem of no file to select in the Path part.

Sometimes PWM is done on the ground side. "ground chopping". There seems to be less problems from my experience when you chop ground versus chopping power. The controller your using tends to reset everytime it receives a pulse when power chopping. This is a very common method of speed controlling a fan. Speed controlling a motor is not much difference.

Hi there, thanks for the video. I have created a path profile operation and I have a problem. The profile is basicly a circle, but when I read the g-code there is this "K" coordinate, I think it is Z offset. The thing is LinuxCNC doesn't like that "K". It can't run the program with it. I removed it manually from the code and it works perfectly. The question is: Is there a setting in FreeCAD so that this "K" doesn't appear in the G-Code? Thanks a lot !

Can you not create a part from scratch? You have to import a design first?

its actually the reception you are getting looking at the bars you were getting on your phone you not getting much so with this router i advise you get out door antennas not wifi antennas but directional 4g antennas and place it on your roof and point it in the direction of the tower and your speeds will increase tremendusly

Thanks mate. By the way folks, STEP import seems to produce a solid naturally in FreeCAD, skipping the messy mesh portion. So if you have the option to use STEP instead of STL you're probably gonna have a better time!
